This post provides two ways in which you can disable second monitor on a Dual Monitor Windows Computer. The first method is to use Windows Control Panel and second method is to use system tray menu of MurGeeMon. In order to disable second monitor, you do not need to remove cables or anything else. Yes even when the second monitor is disabled, it does draws a little power, but allows you to enable the Second Monitor with Keyboard and Mouse.
Turn Off Second Monitor
The above method allows you to create a Desktop Shortcut to Disable or Turn Off Second Monitor. Yes you can even create a Desktop Shortcut to Enable or Turn On Second Monitor in a similar way. This way of disabling or enabling Second Monitor gives you flexibility and total control over your Second Monitor. In case you do have any shortcuts or application windows on second monitor, they will move to the primary monitor automatically.
Launch Screen Resolution from Desktop Right Click
The Second Method to Disable Second Monitor is to launch Screen Resolution Control Panel Applet. The above screenshot displays how to launch the Screen Resolution Control Panel Applet by doing a Right Click on the Desktop. Once you have the Screen Resolution Control Panel Applet, open, you can Turn Off Second or any other Monitor connected to your Windows Computer.
