When using dual monitors in extended mode, you can move application windows across monitors. In order to move windows across or between monitors, you can drag a window by holding the window’s title with mouse cursor and drop it to the intended monitor. Now here you should know where is other monitor in the virtual desktop, the second monitor may be to the right of the first monitor in the virtual desktop space or it can be anywhere else as well. You can configure positions of you dual monitors using the control panel.

In case you move windows between dual monitors frequently a shortcut key combination can be of help. Let’s say you are working on a application window on first monitor and you wish to move it to second monitor to work on first monitor on another application window, you can use either of the given below ways:-

Drag the Window from First Monitor by holding it’s title and drop it onto second monitor.

Press a configurable shortcut key to move the active window to the second monitor automatically.

The shortcut key said above can sound like a small thing, but can be really useful to explore the powers of having dual monitors conncted to your computer. The Move Window Shortcut (or Hotkey combination) Key when pressed on a Maximized Window would move the seleactive window to second monitor and would maximize it on the second monitor. In case the Shortcut Key is pressed when a non maximized window is active, the non maximized window would be moved to the second or next monitor in multiple monitor chain automatically. Have a look at the Window Mover Shortcut document to know how you can assign the above said shortcut key and move windows between dual monitors with a single key press. Also you can have a look at the extended mode post to know how you can switch to it and other relative information and extend your workspace to fully utilize the benefits of having dual monitors.

Wanna Change Screen Resolution with a Shortcut on Desktop? In case yes, this is a good place to start with.

Screen Resolution Shortcut to change screen resolution to 1600 X 900

This Screen Resolution Shortcut has been created to change the Screen Resolution to 1600 X 900 and it also changes the bits per pixel to 32 and Monitor Frequency to 60Hz. You can create many such screen resolution changing shortcut(s) which will allow you to change the screen resolution by launching the shortcut. The Shortcut can be placed anywhere, let’s say on Desktop or Quick Launch bar and it can be assigned Shortcut Keys so that you can launch the screen resolution changing shortcut by pressing shortcut keys on keyboard.

This Screen Resolution Shortcut can be created for any Windows Operating System. Be the Windows Operating System may be Windows 7, Vista or even Windows XP. Just launch the shortcut to set the screen resolution according to your requirement. Now you would not need to go to control panel and struggle with Screen Resolution or Display Resolution conrtol panel again and again. The shortcut can be created to either change temporarily the screen resolution (which would mean that if you do log off, the screen resolution would be reverted to the old screen resolution) and the resolution changes can be done permanently (which would mean that unless you change the screen resolution again, the screen resolution would be changed to the new screen resolution).

You can even use the shortcut to change only DPI setting of a Computer screen by selecting the default or original screen resolution and by selecting a different DPI. 8, 16 and 32 DPI or Bits per pixel are supported. Sounds interesting ? And yes when you create the Screen Resolution shortcut, you will get an option to select any of the Dual Monitors connected to your computer.

Wanna give it a try, just navigate to Resolution Controller document and download the Dual Monitor Software which does offers many other useful functionalities to control your Computer Screen.
