Laptop to External Monitor

Command Line for Dual Monitor Computer

Command Line can be really easy to use and can be only the option in certain circumstances. There are UPS es which execute a configurable .bat file when power goes off or returns back. In case you are using Dual Monitors with your Windows PC, you might need command line to control features of your dual monitor computer. As of thing writing there are 26 command line options which can be used on a Windows XP or Windows Vista Computer. However on a Windows 7 computer few extra command line option will be available. The command line options work in number something like Program.exe 1 or MyProgram.exe 2, etc. The numbers specify the command to be executed from a list of options to control a single, dual or multi monitor windows computer.

A typical installation of the dual monitor software MurGeeMon may be installed as “C:\Program Files\MurGeeMon\MurGeeMon.exe”. Now the program supports various command line options such as

1 This option will change the primary monitor on a dual monitor extended windows computer,

2  This will disable Primary Monitor and will make the Secondary Monitor as Primary Monitor,

3 This command line option will toggle the state of Secondary Monitor, in case the secondary monitor is disabled it will enable it or if it is enabled it will disable it,

In case you do wish to use the command line to disable all secondary monitors from a batch (.bat) file, you can add an entry to the batch file something like as given below

“C:\Program Files\MurGeeMon\MurGeeMon.exe” 4

Note : In case the software has been installed in any other folder, you would need to change the program path in the batch file.

Another easy way to get the correct command line option is to create a dual monitor shortcut on desktop using the option Create Dual Monitor Shortcut, Right click on the desktop shortcut, Select Properties , Navigate to the Shortcut tab and copy the Target path of the shortcut.

In order to disable you would need to navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer and add a new DWORD value with name NoViewContextMenu and set its value to 1 to disable the right click menu of xp. You can enable the right click menu by changing the value of the value NoViewContextMenu to 0. In case your right click menu of XP is slow and takes lots of time, it may be caused by some faulty software. There are many software tools out there which can tweak your right click menu without the need of uninstalling the culprit software.

In case you would like to add new menu options you would need a software to do the job as the job requires to create a dll and add some complex entries to the registry.
